Hello, I am Derrick Eckardt. I am the Founder and Editor of Fantasy Ethos. I am excited to cover the unique world of fantasy sports and share it with you. From the culture to the humor to the inside the industry news, there are great stories to be told, and I am thrilled to be the one telling them. Fantasy Ethos is my second fantasy sports venture, and while that does not guarantee future success, I know it will help me grow Fantasy Ethos into the leading fantasy sports news site.
Previously, I was the Founder and Editor of RotoNation from 2006 to 2008, which I sold in 2007. Before it was merged into Fantasy Players in 2009, RotoNation was the leading source of information about the fantasy sports industry. RotoNation was a great way to launch my career in fantasy sports, but I am excited to be back on my own building a great new fantasy business.
Previously, I worked for seven years for The Boeing Company. While there, I worked fulfilling different fantasies–a world where life revolved around rockets, interplanetary satellites, and placing humans back on the Moon. I attribute the development of my writing and analysis skills to the vast amount of new business proposals I wrote while there.
I graduated from the University of Southern California with a Bachelor of Science Aerospace Engineering in 2001 and a Master of Science in Aerospace Engineering in 2003. While this means that I am now a non-practicing rocket scientist, I still rely heavily on that skill set in my everyday work.
I grew up in Jackson Heights, New York, and still very much consider myself a New Yorker. I went to high school at Xavier High School in Manhattan, where one of my English teachers also happened to have taught United States Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia and the Today Show’s Al Roker.
